Simple Path to Treat Dandruff

Simple Ways To Treat Dandruff
Eat right: You might be told to do that for all sorts of things, but really, it is the basic prerequisite for overall good health. Have lots of zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, E and B vitamins, and avoid yeast and sugar.
Oiling is the next basic step to healthy hair. Your grandmother was right – regular tel maalish does lead to healthy, dandruff-free hair. Leave the oil in for a while, don’t wash it off immediately.
Excessive use of hairstyling products like hairspray, mousse, gels contain ingredients that might make the scalp dry, causing flaking and itching.

How to Pick The Right Hair Colour

Choose the correct shade
If you have warm skin, opt for golden shades such as caramel and bronze in a darker shade than your skin. Avoid jet-black hair which will give you a washed out look and if you do opt for a golden shade, don’t go too light or your hair could turn orange. If you have cool shade, avoid colours that will highlight the ruddiness of your skin tone: Gold, auburn and copper. Ash blondes and cool browns work best.

Pick The Right Hair Colour
How to tell if you’d make a great blonde
A basic thumb rule is that people who had blonde hair as children have the right skin tone to be blonde adults.

Plum Eyeshadow

If a smoky eye in inky black is too severe for you, try to create the look in a color. Mila Kunis got it right with a smoldering shade of plum at St. Jude’s 50th anniversary gala in Beverly Hills. The look worked especially well with her deep purple lace dress. Start with a silvery layer of lavender dabbed along the top and bottom lashlines. Then top it off with the darker tone of shadow and a liner over the water line. Try a smoky gray eye with a platinum dress or a matching navy eye and gown on your next big night.

Navy Eyeliner

At the 17th Annual Critics Choice Awards in Los Angeles, Emma Stone's shimmery blue eyeliner, courtesy of makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, caught our attention. "Navy-lined eyes are an easy way to baby step into the world of color," Goodwin told us. "I used a metallic blue for a more glamorous effect." In the same way a chambray shirt and a pair of jeans will work with almost anything, blue eyeliner can be an unexpected neutral in your makeup bag. Goodwin notes that keeping the rest of your makeup low-key will prevent the pop of color from feeling dated.

Shapely Eye Shadow

Harsh lines are usually a no-no when it comes to eye shadow, but Ashanti's bold blue look has us reconsidering. At the grand reopening of Jay-Z's 40/40 club, the singer rocked a shimmery cerulean shadow with winged out liner. We love how the color gives off an unexpected edge without being reminiscent of the '80s. When creating a graphic look like Ashanti's eye shadow primer is key. Smooth on the primer beforehand so that the bold color has something to grip onto, and keep the rest of your makeup light so your eyes can take center stage.

Beauty Advice 21

To minimize your makeup bag, pack only the essentials: moisturizer for luminous skin, rehydrating elixir to refresh your makeup, powder to de-shine your T-zone, an eyeshadow palette, lipstick, and mascara.

Perfect Black Eyeliner

At the Paris premiere of Tinker Tailor Soldier SpySalma Hayek lined her lids with soft smudgy black liner, which defined her eyes without looking too harsh. For best results, try a thin waxy pencil and start on the bottom, inside the waterline. Next, tug on the top lid before gliding the pencil across in two short strokes: One from the inside and one from the outer corner. Take an angled shadow brush to gently smudge. Finish with a wash of taupe—like Salma—inside the crease for a glamorous wintry look.

Beauty Advice 20

Sidestep streaks by mixing self-tanner with moisturizer before applying. This dilutes the formula so you don't look stripey.
Already have dark skin? You should still go faux if you want to go darker — read up on why there's a high fatality rate for skin cancer in those with darker skin.

Ultra-Soft Eye Makeup

At the premiere of her new movie,Bachelorette Kirsten Dunst sported the most perfectly undone braid across the crown of her head and a barely-there smoky eye. Her makeup artist Jamie Greenberg used mark products to create the subtle look. She prepped Dunst’s lids with an eye primer, then swept a sheer shadow in the corners of her eyes and followed with a dusting of silver metallic in the creases. "To give her some depth and augment her natural eye color, I added a blue shade and lightly outlined her lower lids with a long-wear felt tip liner and shadow,” says Greenberg. She finished up with some mascara. Dunst’s glowing skin and sheer red lip stain finishes off her look that’s glamorous without being overdone.

Radiant Skin

Jessica Alba wasn't afraid of sporting a strapless dress at the 2010 Venice International Film Festival. And for good reason: Her skin had a healthy, lit-from-within glow. To keep the skin on your body from looking dull and lifeless, swap your daily lotion with a moisturizing body perfection cream. Most contain hyaluronic acid, which leaves your skin taut and luminous.

Even-toned Skin

GET THE LOOK: Discoloration and dark patches have no place on our faces! Luminous, even-toned skin makes you look years younger. To undo the damage the sun causes your complexion, look for a night cream with potent levels of albatin, which inhibits melanin production.
INSIDER TRICK: To keep skin looking radiant, wear a sheer foundation containing SPF and glow-enhancers during the day, like Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer.

Matte Skin

GET THE LOOK: Buh-bye high-shine makeup! Lucy Liu's skin looks ready for the transition from summer into fall with an ever-so-soft dewy finish.
INSIDER TRICK: Avoid the greasies! Prep bare skin with an oil-absorbing makeup primer, which soaks up shine before it has a chance to affect cosmetics. After applying makeup, gently dab your T-zone with translucent powder. (Look for a finely milled formula, which looks natural, not dusty).

Blemish-Free Complexions

GET THE LOOK: Beautiful skin like Amy Adams's starts with a few simple lifestyle changes, says Dallas-based dermatologist, Dr. Allison Singer. "Always wash your face before bed and avoid high-sugar foods," she says. "Recent studies suggest increased insulin levels can increase oil gland activity."
INSIDER TRICK: If a pimple pops up before a big event, Dr. Singer says, "A cortisone injection given by a dermatologist directly into the blemish will make it go away in about 24 to 48 hours. Also, a combination of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin cream used on the spot is a great zit zapper."

Flawless Summer Complexion

GET THE LOOK: "Blake's look was inspired by summer. We went for a warm, goddess feel," says Gossip Girl makeup artist Amy Tagliamonti, who gave Blake Lively this fresh, enchanting face.
INSIDER TRICK: Get flawless-looking makeup by using formulas that are goof-proof! Tagliamonti used a host of easy-to-apply products, such as Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover foundation, which hides imperfections while imparting a soft-focus finish to your skin.

Luminous Bronzer

GET THE LOOK: What a glow-getter! Celebrity makeup artist Napoleon Perdis used a triple-threat bronzing approach while prepping Jamie Lynn Sigler for the Intermix VH1 Rock Honors party this weekend. After touching up her complexion with a foundation stick, Perdis swept bronzing powder on her cheeks, then added a hint of golden sheen along her cheekbones using his Light Patrol Luminizer Palette.
INSIDER TRICK: To give your face an overall slimming effect, sweep extra bronzer along your hairline and along your jawline.

Golden Face Powder

GET THE LOOK: Our makeup sparkled in the '70s, glittered in the '80s and gleamed in the '90s. But today, the finest-milled shine particles impart an ever-so-subtle sheen that leaves skin with a touch of iridescent shimmer. Exhibit A? Charlize Theron.
INSIDER TRICK: If you have fair skin, golden peachy powders give your face a tint of sun without the bold, brown effect of bronzer.

Matte Skin

GET THE LOOK: When it comes to a shiny T-zone, powder is a girl's best friend. But during the dog days of summer, humidity can turn any makeup sticky in minutes. Get matte skin like Courteney Cox Arquette by soaking up oil on the surface of your skin with blotting sheets.
INSIDER TRICK: Dab, don't drag! To keep your makeup in place (who wants blush on their chin?), press oil-absorbing sheets onto the surface of your face and pull up.

Natural Brow Lift

GET THE LOOK: "Using a pale highlighter along the entire base of the brow gives you an instant brow lift. It really opens and brightens the eyes," says celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine, who works with stars like Lauren Conrad.
INSIDER TRICK: Like Molly Sims, use a pale pink or beige shade instead of white, which can look chalky, advises Nadine. Drag the pencil under each brow and lightly blend with a finger.

Sheer Foundation

GET THE LOOK: Tis the season to keep foundation fresh and light, like Lucy Liu did. Instead of layering on full-coverage foundation, opt for the ace of base: tinted moisturizer. It will even out the color and texture of your face, while still showing off natural characteristics like freckles. INSIDER TRICK: Create your own sheer summertime foundation. Moisten a makeup sponge until it expands, then squeeze out 95 percent of the moisture. Mix foundation and SPF face lotion on the back of your hand and lightly tap it into your skin with the sponge.

Cream Blush

GET THE LOOK: As the mercury starts to rise, the duration of our makeup may plummet. Rather than submitting to melting makeup, try cream formulas. The sheer, weightless wash of color they impart on skin lasts for hours.
INSIDER TRICK: To get a soft glow like Kristin Davis, lightly swirl two fingers over your blush. Then tap fingers along your cheekbones and gently blend downward.

Classic, Full Brows

GET THE LOOK: Thick waxes are best for Madame Tussaud's! If you want Natalie Portman's delicate, lush arches, use a firm brow pencil with a subtle color payoff. "I use pencil-to-powder formulations that never melt away and really help you build the shape of your natural brows," says makeup artist Brett Freedman, who works with stars like Scarlett Johansson.
INSIDER TRICKS: Wooden pencils need constant shapening and are too thick and waxy. Instead, save yourself time by investing in a retractable, mechanical version with a thin tip.

Cheekbone Highlighter

GET THE LOOK: "By drawing light to the flat planes of her face, Salma has a three-dimensional look on the cheekbone. It's anti-contouring," says P&G Beauty Ambassador BJ Gillian, who frequently works with Hayek.
INSIDER TRICK: Easily enhance your bone structure in the same way by sweeping brightener from below the brows around to the cheekbones in a C-shape that follows the line of the eye socket.

Hot Pink Lipstick

GET THE LOOK: "Lauren thought fuchsia lips would be fun to try for the finale of The Hills," said Lauren Conrad's makeup artist Amy Nadine. "It adds a pop of color that really electrifies the face."
INSIDER TRICK: Nadine skipped eye shadow and used a light nude blush to balance the bold lip.

Nude & Improved Makeup

GET THE LOOK: Variety is the spice of life—and of pretty makeup. That's why it's usually a challenge to pull off all-over monotone beige without looking like a corpse. But Charlize Theron shows that adding a hint of pink to lipstick and cheeks brings a blah face from stale to stellar in no time.
INSIDER TRICK: If your lips have a lot of natural color to them, neutralize the shade with foundation or light-weight concealer before applying lip color.

Invisible Pores

GET THE LOOK: Big, gaping pores are a complexion no-no. But between genetics and blemishes, we're sometimes left with an orange-peel surface, instead of smooth, tight skin like Diane Kruger's.
INSIDER TRICK: Scrub your face weekly to remove dead skin cells that clog and expand pores. Avoid using shiny makeup on cheeks (it will draw light to uneven texture) and opt for mattifying, oil-reducing primer under makeup.

Smooth, Even Skin

GET THE LOOK: Ready to look airbrushed in person, like Becki Newton? Say goodbye to orange-peel pores, unsightly blackheads and rough texture. "A weekly at-home microdermabrasion scrub is all you need to slough off dead cells that collect on the surface of your skin. After a couple of weeks, your skin will be smoother, brighter and tighter," says Dr. Fredric Brandt, whose smooth-skinned patients include Madonna.
INSIDER TRICK: To protect the new, post-scrub delicate skin, use a formula made with polishing crystals (not jagged ground pits or shells) like Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion for Face, which also contains chamomile and aloe vera to soothe any irritation.

Contoured Features

GET THE LOOK: You don't need to be a sculptor to chisel your features. Adding a few subtle shadows in the right places gives you angles that make your bone structure look elgant and defined.
INSIDER TRICK: Celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal strokes face powder two shades darker than her star clients' skintone along the sides of the bridge of the nose (from below the eyes to the tip) using an eye shadow brush.

Pink Lipstick and Blush

GET THE LOOK: Worried about overdosing on pink? Don't be. As Ginnifer Goodwin and Emma Watson show, picking a lip shade slightly richer than the blush is the way to go. Avoid anything too matchy-matchy and strong like fuchsia or Pepto pink.
INSIDER TRICK: Use a light, sheer blush on the cheeks and choose a gloss with a touch of peach or brown to hint towards, but not truly mimic, your cheeks.

Shimmery Blush

GET THE LOOK: Let there be light! Our favorite pretties are perking up their skin with a heavenly glow. What do you need to get the most alluring flush? Not too much frost (it can look too young) or too little shine (matte looks flat), but just the right subtle, healthy gleam.
INSIDER TRICK: Tilt your product into the light to see if your formula glimmers. It'll look even more dimensional on the curves of your face. Pass up anything with sparkles or an overall chalky, powdery finish.

Beauty Advice 19

Even if you didn't get enough sleep last night, your skin doesn't have to give you away. Nothing wakes up a face like bright cheek color. Consider a cream blush with red or pink overtones. Blend into the apples of your cheeks and set with loose powder.

Beauty Advice 18

To sop up oil and refresh makeup, lightly mist your face with toner, then pat with a tissue, says Eva Scrivo, makeup artist and owner of the eponymous New York City salon. Finish with a dusting of loose powder.

Beauty Advice 17

"I frequently see women with deeper wrinkles on one side of their face — the side they sleep on, of course," says New York dermatologist Heidi A. Waldorf. To avoid "sleep lines," opt for silk or satin pillowcases and pile on the antiaging products.

Beauty Advice 16

When covering up blemishes, select a color for what you're covering up. For example, orange-tinged concealers counteract blueish under-eye circles. A mint-green concealer hides the redness of a pimple. The idea is that concealers act as neutralizers. Unlike foundation, concealer is mostly made of pigment, so you need only a little bit.

Beauty Advice 14

Surprise! Concealer is only half the battle when it comes to fixing flaws. To perfect your complexion (no matter what your skin tone), try lipstick in a warm pink. "It distracts people's eyes from blemishes and other imperfections," says makeup artist Morgan Schick.

Beauty Advice 15

For daytime moisturizing, think layering: Use an antioxidant serum under a face cream, topped off with a sunblock. To stave off flaking, consider light exfoliation once a week. Moisturizing without exfoliating first can result in breakouts and dull skin.

Beauty Advice 13

Plump up your lower lip! When your lips look small, the rest of your face looks larger by comparison. The best way to beef up your mouth is to dab a shimmery gloss in the middle of your lower lip (on top of a lip-tone lipstick or gloss).

Beauty Advice 12

Lance Etchison, skin-care aesthetician at Bluemercury in Washington, D.C., suggests incorporating one new product at a time. "And, since most active ingredients take effect over time, don't give up if you don't see immediate results," he advises.

Beauty Advice 11

When applying fake eyelashes, put a little more glue on the edges than the rest of the lash, since they're more likely to come loose. Blow on the glue for a few seconds for a better hold.

Beauty Advice 10

Want to make your small eyes look bigger? Stay away from dark eyeshadows. Start with a nude base, then apply shadow a shade or two darker than the base to your crease and use your finger to blend the color up toward your eyebrow.

Beauty Advice 9

To add length or volume to your hair, steer clear of extensions in not-found-in-nature colors and textures that don't blend with your own. Also, since it's difficult to disguise the point of attachment, use hairpieces just to lengthen a ponytail or fatten an updo.

Beauty Advice 8

Treating your neck like your face doesn't work. "Your neck ages in its own way and so has special needs," explains Adrienne Denese, M.D., Ph.D. "Neck tendons shrink through the years and become more visible and the thin skin in this area doesn't respond to lasers and peels as well as your face does." She suggests good posture and neck stretches.

Beauty Advice 7

Want eyelashes that are full and thick, not clumpy? Use an eyelash curler only on clean lashes, and start at the roots.

Beauty Advice 5

To keep eye shadow from creasing, eliminate as much oil as possible from your lids. To do it, use an eye shadow base or pressed powder before applying color.

Beauty Advice 6

Naturally pale but want a healthy glow? The good news is that you don't need a lot of makeup to achieve great-looking skin, says New York makeup artist Paula Dorf. For natural-looking results, apply glow products to the apples of your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, your hairline, and chin.

Beauty Advice 4

We love the look of a perfect sheer manicure on long, tapered talons as much as the next woman, but let's face it: It takes time, patience, and money to keep it up. For equally elegant, less fussy nails, go short, round, and dark. File your nails so they line up with the tips of your fingers and round off the corners.

Beauty Advice 3

If you're looking for a dramatic eye, try liquid eyeliner. Choose an eyeliner brush that's small with angled bristles for a cleaner line.

Beauty Advice 2

Prevent dead-skin pileup by using a pumice stone in the shower — and don't be tempted into using a razor. That will only cause more skin to grow back. Pamper your feet with moisturizing facial masks.

Beauty Advice 1

Rose and lavender work wonders in calming skin inflammation, according to Michele VanLandingham, ingredient information specialist for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care.

Coordinated Manicure

We love how Blake Lively's pale purple nails—with notes of blue—perfectly complimented her silvery cocktail dress and bright blue baubles at the Museum of Modern Art's 4th Annual Film Benefit. The trick to coordinated manicures is not going too matchy matchy: If you’re having a red moment, try a rich burgundy on your nails and accent your jewelry with shades of garnet or rust. Same goes for orange: Mix up coral, peach and hints of gold and copper. You’ll look polished and pulled together but your look will be multi-dimensional enough to stay interesting.

Gray Nails

This season is about taking your nail color to another dimension. Think smoky gray, navy or holographic green. Jessica Alba got it right at a Swarovski Elements private holiday dinner in West Hollywood with a chic shade of slate and perfectly rounded edges. When thinking outside the box, try an unconventional finish like a matte top coat. But let your experimentation end there—keep rings and bracelets to a minimum, and don’t forget to hydrate hands and cuticles nightly.
